Clara and Tariq have carried out research into prosocial behavior as part of their studies. They investigated whether train commuters are more likely to offer their seat to a pregnant woman or to an injured person wearing a leg cast and using crutches. They used an opportunity sample of 30 participants for each condition. Each participant encountered either a pregnant confederate or an injured confederate standing near them on a busy train, and the researchers recorded whether the participant offered their seat or did not offer their seat.
Table 1 shows the number of participants who offered or did not offer their seat in each condition.
