Question 269

Dr. Aris conducted an experiment to investigate sports coaches' perceptions of how different types of goal-setting affect an athlete's mental toughness.

He presented qualified athletic coaches with two profiles describing the preparation of the same athlete. In the first profile, coaches rated the athlete's mental toughness after setting outcome-oriented goals, such as winning a tournament (Condition A). In the second profile, the same coaches rated the same athlete's mental toughness after setting process-oriented goals, such as mastering a specific technique (Condition B).

The coaches were asked to provide a rating on a scale from 1 to 20, where 1 represented extremely low mental toughness and 20 represented extremely high mental toughness.

Explain one weakness of Dr. Aris collecting quantitative data for his experiment.
