Approximately 650 participants were recruited by researchers who displayed posters with a QR code at a national Zero-Waste & Organic Living Festival. The study aimed to investigate the relationship between eco-anxiety and sustainable purchasing behavior across different age groups.
To measure eco-anxiety, participants completed an online 10-item psychometric scale assessing climate-related distress. To measure sustainable purchasing behavior, participants uploaded photographs of their grocery receipts from the past 7 days, which researchers coded to calculate the percentage of total spend dedicated to certified organic, fair-trade, or packaging-free products.
