Question 145

A youth centre surveyed 120 attendees and volunteers after several events organised by young people. Respondents could identify more than one issue.

Issue identifiedRespondents identifying this issue
Information about the event arrived too late62%
Volunteers were unsure about their roles55%
Spending was not tracked carefully48%
There was not enough time for setting up44%
Activities did not suit people of different ages37%

The Next Event Starts Before the Doors Open

Your youth centre is assembling a practical guide for the next team of young event organisers. The guide will be circulated after a review of recent events.

Produce a leaflet that turns the review into a set of recommendations for the next event.

You should:

  • show what young organisers may gain from staging a community event, while acknowledging the pressures identified by the review
  • interpret the survey findings to decide which weaknesses deserve attention first, making links between the findings where useful
  • set out a ranked action plan for the next organising team and justify the order, including ways to address all five issues

Use information from the table and your own ideas.
