Dr. Aris conducted an investigation to determine if participating in a 3-hour virtual reality (VR) perspective-taking simulation affects medical students' selection of communication style during patient handovers.

She used two groups of medical students:

• Condition X: 40 medical students who completed the 3-hour VR perspective-taking simulation.
• Condition Y: 40 medical students who completed a standard 3-hour seminar on patient handovers.

She assessed her participants by asking them to choose their preferred approach on a questionnaire, where they had to select either "patient-centred" or "task-orientated".
