Question 158

Jesper investigated the effect of emotional state on false memory creation. He recruited participants from a local community center using opportunity sampling.

Jesper showed his participants a slideshow of a busy market scene. In Condition A, participants listened to fast-paced, upbeat music before viewing the slideshow to induce a positive emotional state. In Condition B, participants sat in silence before viewing the slideshow. Both groups were then given a recall test containing misleading questions about items in the market scene to see if they would incorporate false details into their reports.

Jesper used an independent groups design in his investigation.

Explain one strength of Jesper using an independent groups design in his study.
