Marcus conducted an investigation into whether the age of a witness can affect the perceived credibility of their testimony. Marcus used an opportunity sampling technique to recruit participants for his investigation from a local shopping mall.
The participants watched a video of a mock trial testimony. Half the participants saw an 8-year-old child giving witness testimony (Condition A) and the other half of the participants saw a 35-year-old adult giving the same testimony (Condition B). The participants then rated the credibility of the witness on a scale of 1 (not at all credible) to 10 (highly credible).
Explain one strength and one weakness of the sampling technique used by Marcus for his investigation about witness credibility.
