Dr. Vance conducted an investigation to evaluate the impact of a smartphone application that sends daily mindfulness prompts on the occupational stress of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. He recorded the self-reported stress levels of 30 ICU nurses at the end of a two-week period during which they used the app daily. He did not measure their stress levels prior to introducing the app, and there was no control group.
