Dr. Aris conducted a laboratory experiment to investigate the impact of auditory distraction on working memory capacity. Using a repeated measures design, 24 participants completed a complex working memory task while listening to lyrical pop music, and then immediately completed an equivalent task while listening to continuous white noise. Dr. Aris administered the conditions in the same sequence for all participants.
