Researchers investigated the effects of mindfulness training on concentration. They measured the attention span of two groups of participants before starting the training, and then tested them again after two weeks of daily sessions.
The researchers assessed concentration using a standardised attention test, where a low score indicated poor concentration and a high score indicated excellent concentration. Scores on the test could range from 0 to 50. The lowest score achieved by any participant was 12, and the highest score was 48.
| Group A (Mindfulness group) | Group B (Control group) | |
|---|---|---|
| Mean concentration score | 41.2 | 28.5 |
In this study, the concentration scores were assumed to be an interval level of measurement because the attention test was standardised.
