A clinical psychologist investigating social anxiety disorder wanted to see if there was a relationship between a patient's level of social anxiety and the frequency of their social avoidance behaviors.
They administered a social anxiety questionnaire to ten diagnosed patients (scored out of 40, where higher scores indicate higher social anxiety) and asked the patients to keep an accurate diary of social avoidance behaviors over a one-week period.
The results for each participant are shown in the table below.
