An educational researcher conducted a study to investigate the relationship between the number of hours students spend in part-time employment per week and their self-reported academic confidence.
The researcher selected an opportunity sample of 10 students aged 17 from a local college. Each student reported the average number of hours they spent working in a part-time job each week. Each student also completed an academic confidence questionnaire, which provided a score out of 40 (where a lower score indicates low academic confidence and a higher score indicates high academic confidence).
The raw data collected in the study are shown in Table 1 below.
