In an experiment investigating the effectiveness of a newly developed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) anger management program, 30 young offenders were randomly assigned to one of two conditions. 15 offenders were placed in the Treatment Group (receiving a 6-week intensive CBT program), while the other 15 were placed in the Control Group (receiving standard youth service supervision). At the end of the 6 weeks, each participant's anger regulation was classified by a clinical psychologist as either 'Significant Improvement' or 'No Significant Improvement'.
The researcher decided to use a Chi-Squared test to analyse the data from this study. One reason for choosing this test was that the research design used independent groups, meaning each offender only participated in one condition.
Referring to information about the study, explain two other reasons why it was appropriate to use a Chi-Squared test in this case.
