In a follow-up study, a researcher investigated whether there was a correlation between the number of hours spent practicing an instrument per week and how confident musicians felt before a solo recital.
The researcher randomly selected 15 student musicians from a local music conservatory.
On the day of the recital, each musician was asked, 'How many hours did you spend practicing your instrument this week?' They were then asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 10 how confident they felt about their upcoming performance (where 1 is 'not confident at all' and 10 is 'extremely confident').
The researcher hypothesised that there would be a positive correlation between the two co-variables.
