A psychologist studying generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) wants to investigate whether there is a relationship between general anxiety severity and social avoidance. They administer two standardized questionnaires to a sample of 9 patients diagnosed with GAD:

  • One questionnaire measures general anxiety severity (GAD Score out of 45). A higher score indicates higher anxiety severity.
  • The other questionnaire measures social avoidance tendencies (SAQ Score out of 45). A higher score indicates greater social avoidance.

The scores for each participant are shown in the table below.
