Forensic Psychology Study

In an experiment investigating the effect of co-witness discussion on eye-witness recall, 40 participants watched a short video clip of a shoplifting incident. The participants were split into two equal groups. Group A discussed the video with a confederate who deliberately introduced misleading information about a red jacket. Group B wrote silently about their day for 5 minutes. Afterwards, each participant was asked if the shoplifter wore a red jacket, and their response was recorded as either 'Incorrect' (recalling the red jacket) or 'Correct' (not recalling the red jacket).

The researcher decided to use a Chi-Squared test to analyse the data from this study. One reason for choosing this test was that each participant only took part in one of the two conditions.

Referring to information about this study, explain two other reasons why it was appropriate to use a Chi-Squared test in this case.
