Question 48

An investigation was carried out to model the effect of body size and surface-area-to-volume ratio on thermoregulation in mammals. Two spherical flasks filled with hot water, Flask S (volume 500 cm3) and Flask T (volume 100 cm3), were used to represent a large and a small mammal respectively. Both flasks were allowed to cool under identical ambient conditions, and their temperatures were recorded over 15 minutes.
