A student investigated the cooling effect of evaporation to model sweating.

They set up two identical boiling tubes, each with a thermometer as shown in the diagram below.

  • Boiling Tube A was wrapped in a layer of wet cotton wool.
  • Boiling Tube B was wrapped in a layer of dry cotton wool.

Hot water was added to each boiling tube, and their temperatures were recorded every minute for 10 minutes.
