Maya's Child Psychology Investigation Context
Maya investigated whether toddlers (aged 2–3 years) can recognize emotional expressions (e.g., happy, sad, angry) more accurately when presented on an interactive digital tablet compared to a traditional cardboard picture-book. She gathered her sample of parents and their toddlers from her local community centre using a volunteer sampling technique.
Maya asked parents in Condition A to show their toddlers the emotional expressions on a digital tablet, and parents in Condition B to show them the expressions using a physical picture-book. She then recorded how many emotional expressions each toddler correctly identified.
Describe how Maya may have gathered her participants using a volunteer sampling technique.
