Two rival local amateur theatre companies, The Bard’s Players and The Modern Stage, share a university community arts centre.
The companies compete intensely for a limited local audience and prime rehearsal time slots. This competition has led members of both groups to deface each other's promotional posters, disrupt rehearsals by making loud noises nearby, and mock each other's acting styles on local community forums.
Recently, the local council threatened to close down and demolish the arts centre due to funding cuts. To save the venue, the members of both theatre groups had to collaborate to organise a joint fundraising gala and petition drive, which ultimately secured a preservation grant that saved the arts centre for both groups to use.
Using realistic conflict theory, explain the behaviour of the members of the two theatre companies.
