Dr. Sterling conducted a field experiment in a category C prison to evaluate the effectiveness of a novel Cognitive-Behavioural Anger Management Programme in reducing violent behavior. One group of inmates participated in the Anger Management Programme (Condition X), while a matched control group participated in standard recreational activities (Condition Y).
The prison staff monitored and recorded the number of aggressive outbursts (verbal or physical) for each participant over a six-week period following the intervention.
The results are displayed in Table 2.
