Amara and Leo watched a short video clip of a restaurant scene together and later discussed details of it with their classmates. Amara described a chef who was wearing a traditional tall, white chef's hat and plating gourmet seafood dishes. Leo, however, insisted that the chef was wearing a casual baseball cap and flipping burgers on a grill.
Leo also recalled a busy waiter carrying a large tray of drinks and dropping a glass on the floor. Amara disagreed, saying the waiter did not drop anything and was only carrying a menu. Leo argued that because the restaurant was clearly understaffed and chaotic, the waiter must have dropped a glass in the rush.
Discuss, using reconstructive memory (Bartlett, 1932), including schema theory, Amara's and Leo's recall of the restaurant scene.
