Dr. Vance is a biopsychologist investigating whether core body temperature is linked to cognitive processing speed.
Dr. Vance selected six participants from a circadian rhythm study. She recorded each participant's core body temperature (in °C) at 04:00 hours and then measured their reaction time (in milliseconds) on a computerized rapid visual attention task.
Dr. Vance's results are shown in Table 1.
Table 1
| Participant | Core body temperature (°C) | Reaction time (ms) |
|---|---|---|
| A | 35.8 | 380 |
| B | 36.1 | 350 |
| C | 36.3 | 310 |
| D | 36.4 | 330 |
| E | 36.7 | 280 |
| F | 37.0 | 250 |
