Question 17

Chloe and Marcus have carried out research into obedience as part of their A-level Psychology course. They investigated whether Year 12 or Year 13 students are more obedient to school authority figures. They approached the first 30 Year 12 and 30 Year 13 students who were sitting in the school library at the time and asked them to complete a hypothetical scenario questionnaire. Each student who took part was given a scenario about whether or not they would follow a librarian's instruction to immediately turn off their laptop and silent study.

Table 1 shows the number of Year 12 and Year 13 students who reported they would or would not follow the instruction.
