The changed timetable
The first bus used to arrive before the bakery switched on its lights. Now the timetable began at nine. At the stop, a cleaner in a blue coat checked her watch, then photographed the notice. A young man with a hospital badge stood beside two suitcases; his mother kept saying they could ask a neighbour. The shelter’s new poster promised a simpler service. Underneath it, someone had written the number of a taxi firm. By half past seven, the queue had gone. Nobody had boarded a bus.
What can you infer about the effect of the new timetable on local people? Support your answer with evidence.
