Each carbon atom is also bonded to three hydrogen atoms, making a total of six hydrogen atoms and two carbon atoms. Compound B consists of two carbon atoms connected by a single covalent bond; one carbon is bonded to three hydrogen atoms, and the second carbon is bonded to two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom which is in turn bonded to a hydrogen atom. Compound C consists of two carbon atoms connected by a single covalent bond; one carbon is bonded to three hydrogen atoms, and the second carbon is bonded to two hydrogen atoms and one bromine atom.

Compound A contains carbon and only one other element.
