A student investigated gravitropism in oat seedlings using a clinostat. Two different setups were prepared, as shown in the diagram below.
In Setup A, the seedling is rotated slowly on a clinostat. In Setup B, the seedling is left stationary on a clinostat.
Give one environmental variable, other than temperature, that must be controlled to ensure that the shoot in Setup A grows straight along the horizontal axis without bending.
