Question 12

In 1858, Alfred Russel Wallace sent Charles Darwin an essay outlining his own theory of natural selection. Instead of allowing Wallace to publish first, Darwin arranged for both of their papers to be read jointly at the Linnean Society of London later that year.

State one reason why Darwin wanted to present his work alongside Wallace's rather than letting Wallace publish his findings individually.
