Question 15

Something Missing

You are getting ready for school when you realise that something you need that day cannot be found.

Write a personal account of what happens next. Your response may be real or imagined.

You should write about:

  • the ordinary details of the morning before the problem is noticed
  • what people say and do while searching for the missing item
  • how the situation ends and why you remember it

To help you plan, you could:

  • choose the missing item and explain why it matters
  • include a short exchange of dialogue
  • focus on one or two significant details, such as a sound, an object or a particular room
  • decide whether the ending brings relief, embarrassment, amusement or thoughtful reflection
