The repeating unit of a polyester molecule is shown in Figure 1.

This condensation polymer is made from two different monomers.

The repeating unit of a polyester. Starting from the left, there is an open single bond extending from a carbonyl carbon (C=O), which is directly single-bonded to a second carbonyl carbon (C=O). This second carbonyl carbon is single-bonded to an oxygen atom (O). This oxygen atom is single-bonded to a propane chain consisting of three consecutive CH2 groups (-CH2-CH2-CH2-). The final CH2 group is single-bonded to an oxygen atom (O), which has an open single bond extending to the right to indicate the continuation of the polymer chain.
