Cataracts are a common eye condition that can affect a person's vision as they age.

Figure 6 shows how a distant traffic light at night appears to a person with healthy, normal vision compared to a person with a cataract.

A comparison of vision. On the left, 'Normal Vision' shows a sharp, well-defined green circular traffic light against a dark background. On the right, 'Cataract Vision' shows a very blurry, dim, and diffused green light with a wide, fuzzy halo surrounding it.

Describe why a person with a cataract sees the blurry and dim image shown in Figure 6.
