An A-level student prepared a temporary wet mount slide of human cheek epithelial cells to observe under a light microscope. When viewed under high power (×450 \times 450\,×450 magnification), the cells were extremely difficult to distinguish from the background because they were virtually transparent.
State one improvement the student could make to their slide preparation to make the epithelial cells clearly visible.
