Over the last three decades, wealth and income inequality has widened significantly across several high-income economies. For instance, between 1990 and 2020, the Gini coefficient for disposable income in the United Kingdom grew by approximately 4 percentage points, while in Sweden it rose by nearly 8 percentage points from a historically low base.

Evaluate the primary causes of this increase in income inequality. Refer to a developed economy of your choice in your answer.
