Question 115

The pop-up clinic sign

Text: an original contemporary report-style practice extract.

A temporary vaccination clinic changed its entrance sign after visitors began queuing at the wrong door. The revised sign showed a large arrow towards the side entrance. Appointment times and staffing levels stayed unchanged. A volunteer stood at the old doorway on the first morning to redirect people who remembered the previous arrangement. The organisers did not assume that replacing a sign would immediately replace everyone’s memory of it. By lunchtime, the queue was forming where there was room for it.

From the extract, identify one change made to the entrance sign.
