Question 99

Trying an e-reader

Text: an original contemporary personal account-style practice extract.

On my first journey with an e-reader, I liked being able to enlarge the print without carrying a different edition of the book. I also found the built-in dictionary useful because I could check an unfamiliar word without leaving the page to search on my phone. The device needed charging before I travelled, and I missed being able to judge my progress by the thickness of the pages. I kept a paper book at home. The new device had advantages for that journey without making every other way of reading obsolete.

From the extract, give two features of the e-reader the writer found useful.
