Question 76

Testing a walking route

Text: an original contemporary personal account-style practice extract.

The council asked a small group of us to test its draft walking route. We each received the same printed route sheet, with the same starting point and directions. At the end, we marked any confusing section on a feedback card and handed it in.

I found the shared route sheet useful because it meant we were comparing the same instructions. The feedback cards were helpful too: they let us show exactly where we had become unsure, rather than trying to remember afterwards.

Identify one arrangement that helped testers compare the instructions fairly and one that helped locate confusing sections.
