CaCO3(s)→CaO(s)+CO2(g) \text{CaCO}_3(\text{s}) \rightarrow \text{CaO}(\text{s}) + \text{CO}_2(\text{g}) CaCO3​(s)→CaO(s)+CO2​(g)

A student strongly heated 18.425 g of pure calcium carbonate in an open crucible. Once the reaction was complete, the remaining solid residue was allowed to cool and found to have a mass of 10.310 g.

Calculate the mass of carbon dioxide gas released during this thermal decomposition.
