Question 10

Dominic is a 24-year-old graphic designer who has recently moved back in with his parents after a relationship breakdown. Dominic’s mother frequently tells him how much she wants him to succeed, yet whenever he tries to discuss his artwork, she rolls her eyes and changes the subject, later accusing him of being "cold and uncommunicative". Meanwhile, his father constantly criticises his daily choices and expresses anger over minor household tasks, while his mother frequently cries and claims Dominic’s illness is entirely her fault. Dominic has also started to believe that his own hand is being controlled by an external force when he draws, and says he can no longer filter out background noises when trying to concentrate. His psychiatrist believes Dominic is showing early signs of schizophrenia.
