Maya, who is 7 years old, enjoys painting pictures at school. One day at home, she decides to paint a blue sky on some yellow craft paper. She is surprised when the blue paint turns green as it spreads across the yellow paper. Maya's father explains that because the paper is yellow, the blue paint mixes with it to make green. Maya is confused because she believed that blue paint always stayed blue, regardless of the paper used.
