Individual differences in stress

Question 6

Julian and Clara are architectural designers preparing final models for a prestigious city planning competition. Julian is determined to win the top prize to secure his reputation. He frequently checks on his colleagues' progress, gets highly frustrated and snaps at assistants when they make minor mistakes, and works late into the night because he hates falling behind his schedule. Clara is passionate about design but takes a relaxed approach, believing that as long as she puts in an honest effort, the outcome of the competition does not matter. She does not compare her progress to others and enjoys taking leisurely breaks to clear her head.

Research has shown that certain personality types are more susceptible to the harmful physical consequences of stress than others.

Explain whether Julian or Clara is more likely to suffer the negative physical effects of stress. Refer to psychological research in your explanation.
