Study of Gender Identity and Psychological Well-Being

A psychologist conducted a study to investigate the relationship between gender identity and psychological well-being. A sample of 100 young adults (aged 18–25) completed two questionnaires:

  • The Bem Sex-Role Inventory (BSRI): This scale measures gender identity by assessing respondents on 20 masculine, 20 feminine, and 20 neutral personality traits. Based on their scores, participants are categorized into one of four gender roles: Masculine, Feminine, Androgynous, or Undifferentiated.
  • The Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS): A scale measuring mental well-being, where higher scores indicate greater psychological well-being.

The psychologist planned to analyze the differences in well-being scores across the four gender role categories using an independent-measures ANOVA to determine if there was a statistically significant difference.
