Protein (albumin) in the urine can be a sign of kidney disease. A colorimetric method can be used to determine the protein concentration in a urine sample by first creating a calibration curve of known protein concentrations.

  • A protein solution of known concentration (10 mg/dm3)
  • Distilled water
  • A protein-detecting reagent (which reacts with protein to produce a purple-colored product)
