It covers cell biology and organisation, biological molecules, enzymes and movement of substances, human and plant nutrition, transport and gas exchange, reproduction, inheritance and variation, ecology and human influences on ecosystems, coordination, response and disease, and biotechnology and genetic modification, with a strong focus on with a strong focus on handling data, practical problem-solving and applying the scientific method. The course is available at Core and Extended tier, typically 130 guided learning hours, with first assessment in 2026.
