Revise Edexcel GCSE Physics 6.1.2 Isotopes: atomic and mass number with the question bank and revision guides.
Describe the structure of nuclei of isotopes using the terms atomic (proton) number and mass (nucleon) number and using symbols in the format [the mass number written as a superscript and the atomic number as a subscript, both to the left of the element symbol, for example carbon-13 shown as ¹³₆C]. • Recall that the nucleus of each element has a characteristic positive charge, but that isotopes of an element differ in mass by having different numbers of neutrons.
