Scientists used their explanation of how the universe is expanding to predict how fast very distant galaxies should be moving away from the Earth. Since 1998, the brightness of supernovae has been used to find the distances to these galaxies. When these distances were compared with the red-shifts of the galaxies, the galaxies were found to be receding faster than the prediction.
A magazine article states that an explanation which agrees with all the earlier observations has been proved to be true.
Use the supernova observations to explain why the article is wrong and how scientists responded to these observations.
