Question 210

An evening room for study

A community centre is considering opening one of its rooms as a supervised homework space for young people one evening a week. The centre manager is concerned that attendance may be low and that the arrangement could take staff away from other activities.

Write a letter to the centre manager persuading them to consider a trial. Address the manager’s concerns, propose arrangements that could make the trial manageable, and explain what the centre should learn from the trial before deciding whether to continue.

You may invent details about the centre and the young people who might use the room.

Your response will be assessed for communication and organisation, and for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation. The total includes 16 marks for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation.
