Lessons in the school grounds

Most teaching at your school happens inside. The pupil council has proposed a short trial in which some classes would use the school grounds when the setting suits the work.

A letter will be sent to the headteacher as part of the consultation. Write that letter, explaining what occasional outdoor lessons could offer and persuading the headteacher to approve a carefully planned trial.

You might consider:

  • work that could make effective use of the grounds
  • practical concerns that should be addressed
  • a sensible way to run and review the trial.

Other relevant ideas may also be used.

Your response will be assessed for communication and organisation, and for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation. The total includes 16 marks for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation.
