A quality control technician wrote the following draft protocol to determine the concentration of ethanoic acid in a batch of household white vinegar:

  1. Rinse a burette with distilled water and fill it with standard 0.100 mol dm-3 sodium hydroxide solution.
  2. Transfer 25.0 cm3 of the vinegar sample directly into a conical flask using a measuring cylinder.
  3. Add a few drops of methyl orange indicator to the flask.
  4. Add the sodium hydroxide solution from the burette in 1.0 cm3 portions until the colour changes.
  5. Record the final burette reading.

Explain two modifications or additional details that should be made to this specific protocol to improve the accuracy of the titration results.
