Study Description

An environmental psychologist wanted to investigate residents' perceptions of new wind turbines installed near a coastal town. Previous literature on community attitudes toward green energy infrastructure showed highly conflicting findings. The psychologist randomly selected twelve coastal residential zones and successfully recruited participants from nine of these zones. To conduct the research, the psychologist prepared a set of core open-ended questions concerning noise and visual impact, but allowed herself the flexibility to ask unique, spontaneous follow-up questions based on each resident's specific answers to explore their concerns in greater depth.

Identify the type of interview used in this study. Explain your answer.
