Visual Fatigue and Reaction Time Study

An experiment is designed to investigate whether wearing blue-light-blocking glasses affects user reaction times during prolonged screen use. The researcher utilizes a repeated-measures design:

  • Condition 1: 30 participants complete a visual reaction-time test on Apparatus A (which requires tapping flashing red squares on a handheld touchscreen tablet) while wearing standard clear glasses.
  • Condition 2: The same 30 participants complete a visual reaction-time test on Apparatus B (which requires tracking and clicking a moving green circle using a desktop mouse) while wearing blue-light-blocking glasses.

The two computer tasks and interface devices were chosen arbitrarily and were not standardized.
